How Wayfare helped build a secure, reliable financial data foundation that enabled better decision-making and supported the leadership team in their daily operations by enabling access to high-quality data

Powering operational data clarity ate-Boks
A strengthened data foundation for a critical business
e-Boks, a key provider of critical digital infrastructure to European governments and business entities, provides a secure digital platform for communication, document delivery, and storage of important documents. As the company grew, so did the complexity of its financial landscape. Leadership needed a clearer view of how the business was performing financially, both day-to-day and over time.
To support that effort, e-Boks partnered with Wayfare to improve the way data was collected, integrated, and analyzed. Wayfare’s forward-deployed engineering team, in collaboration with leaders at e-Boks, built a resilient and reliable data foundation that gave management faster access to trustworthy insights. This platform has helped e-Boks operate with greater confidence and flexibility and proved valuable during the company’s recent acquisition by the private equity fund CataCap.
“Wayfare helped us establish the data foundation we needed with high-quality, timely, and reliable data. The insights we have gained have been important both for our operations and strategically.”
— Henrik Ostenfeld Larsen, CFO at e-Boks.
The situation: Complex systems with fragmented insights
Established in 2001, e-Boks was a pioneer in delivering digital communication infrastructure and deserves a lot of credit for helping Danish society build and embrace a world-renowned public digitial infrastructure. Over time, e-Boks had built up a complex financial data foundation, with a mixture of legacy systems, modern ERP and CRM platforms, and other software platforms. Combined with e-Boks introducing more commercial channels to more customer segments, this had led to a complicated and rigid data integration infrastructure, making it more time-consuming to maintain accurate and up-to-date analytics on commercial and financial performance across the business.
A new reliable data foundation with built-in security
Wayfare worked closely with e-Boks to implement and deploy a secure and governable data platform. Wayfare’s team of forward-deployed engineers worked together with leaders at e-Boks to model the complex business landscape and support the global operations of e-Boks. Data pipelines were connected to core commercial and financial systems, and e-Boks were able to use Wayfare’s flexible and powerful data modeling layer to allow for fast and accurate analytics. Crucially, all of this was done using e-Boks’ own infrastructure for data movement, a key security point for a critical infrastructure provider.
With Wayfare in place, e-Boks was able to build an analytics and business intelligence layer that gives key insights into their business in real time. This allows management and team leads to understand exactly how the company is operating in real time, but also to answer one-off analytics questions about specific segments, features, or time periods.
“Wayfare gave us the tools to understand our business more deeply, without compromising on security or control, They helped make data something everyone on the team can rely on and act on.”
— Henrik Ostenfeld Larsen, CFO at e-Boks.
Better insights helped support the acquisition process
The improvements made through the collaboration with Wayfare gave e-Boks a stronger grip on its financial and commercial data. This has made the organization more agile and able to make better decisions faster, with more confidence in their operational data.
The timing also proved valuable. During the recent acquisition by the private equity fund CataCap, the leadership team was able to clearly and credibly demonstrate how the business was performing, providing high-quality data with confidence. We are proud to have been able to support e-Boks in this major milestone.
